mirrors reflect
what stands before it
still waters
The original haiku for this photo was about things appearing upside down, which is how I feel at this moment– like the world is a parallel universe where everything is backward. But I struggled to find the words and the right tones, so I ditched it. Or rather God said, that’s not what I want you to say. I looked again with a different lens.
It is too beautiful to tie into this chaotic world. It is too reflective to reflect confusion. It is too peaceful to invite frustration. It is too insightful to be so myopic. What reflects is not a picture of what is wrong, but a reminder of what is good. Beautiful, peaceful, hopeful, and calm.
And I ponder, as an imager of God - created in His likeness, to mirror Him, his love, his hope, his compassion - does God reflect upon the stillness of the lake if I am looking in?

Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.
