A while back, my Billy and I were blessed to journey to the other side of the world with some dear friends. We were taking a lifetime vacation to the Maldives. Dubai was a pass-through location, so we stopped for a few days. When in Dubai, the desert is a must.
We took a tour in a rugged SUV on half-flat tires. It felt much like snowmobiling. Once the driver tired of our American uneasiness from his adrenaline-seeking driving, he gave us time to view the vast expanse of a sculpted planet. Breathtaking is an understatement. Formed by grains of sand, eroded from somewhere, it is gathered for Bill, me, and the others to experience. It felt very Indiana Jones-ish.
This picture, inspiring today’s haiku, makes me think God exposes places like this, looking like Mars, for us to see His work. Maybe other grand areas here in our world are teasing ALL the grand creations in His world. Everything He makes is beautiful, even rust-colored lands, dry and arid, robbed of water. It manifests emotions of admiration, awe, and respect while capturing the magnitude of who He is.
The Arabian desert. It is over 2.3 million square kilometers—mountains of sand shaped by the wind. God blowing kisses. He sculpts a pliable landscape into something magnificent with only His breath.

Genesis 2: 7 (ESV)
the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
Be safe, be kind, share grace, and pray; the world needs our prayers.

I felt like I was actually there, seeing the expanse of sand and feeling the dryness of the air around me. Thank you again for the reminder of the greatness of our God.
