He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.
Psalm 1:3 (ESV)
Change is unsettling. It is a creature that moves in and around you. Slinks its way into your psyche. Creates detours in your daily routine. Peppered with bumps and unknown paths in unsure directions, it fosters doubt. Worry. Unsettles that which is settled. Shakes it all up.
With all seasons, things must fall away for rebirth to occur. But the transitions are often stark. Abrupt. Such as a daughter graduating from college. A job awaits. She longs for her independence. Her place – the next stage. Fully sprouting wings to womanhood. Relinquishing mom to observer, bystander, a vulnerable witness to the journey her treasured child is about to embark on.
Perhaps, it’s insecurities as a book is close to publication. Or an editor encouraging deeper exploration into emotional veins. Maybe opportunity arising from something unforeseen, challenging priorities.
Or
Simply having a parent in a fight against a body that wants age to win.
Though, I have found, in all my shifting seasons, as the changes present themselves and move me from comfortable to uncomfortable, the growth refreshes and renews my life. It brings newfound knowledge and experiences that propel all I love to greater heights. Greater places, and we grow, becoming stronger as the next layer of life adheres to our body of work.
Change seems necessary. I guess required. So, embrace what is changing in your life; pretty soon, whatever is unsettled will settle, and you’ll be in this season with many future seasons.
Have a beautiful week. Back next Wednesday.

Congrats A.
Keep fighting, Mom.
Good things are happening.
Be safe, stay kind, show grace, and pray. Know this - the world and all that is in it sit in the hands of God.
