Be brave. Be bold and different, but do so with beauty and grace.
“95% of Christians have never led anyone to Christ.” - Greg Laurie, X Post April 9, 2025 - read by Kim at 10:28 AM.
This is a powerful statement to me. It lingers, hovers in the back of my mind.
What is our role as Christians?
To get ourselves to Heaven?
Get those we love there?
Be good stewards with strong moral compasses?
Build a rich portfolio and have a nice house and car?
Be honorable?
Have a tender heart and live a kind life?
I ponder.
Recently, my family attended a Celebration of Life for a good, good man, Fred Sewell, the founder of the company where my Bill works. Because of Mr. Sewell’s choices, my family has had, and still has, great opportunities. He inspired Billy, encouraged him, and I was grateful for the love and support he shared not only with his employees but also with their families. So our entire family went. It was beautiful.
The words spoken of how he lived, loved, and discipled, I imagine, put him in Greg’s top 5%. It left me wondering, where do I fall? Does my daughter, sitting next to me, think I rep Christ as well as this man’s family and friends, children and grandchildren testify that he did? His impact was evident in the fact that those speaking, the ones who were most influenced and loved by him, knew Christ.
In that seat, listening, I understood what the 5% do. They bravely speak of their faith.
And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
Mark 16:15-16 (ESV)
If God’s disciples had not gone out, spoken of God and His grace. Of His love and how He would save us, forgive us, while offering eternal life, we’d be where many are today. Lost. Confused and discouraged. Lonely and afraid, or content and unassuming.
So, in a world of ugly, be bold. Be brave. But do so with a soft tongue and a gentle touch - The Fred Sewell way - so God’s gift and offering are appealing. Inviting and full of curiosity, leading others to ponder - what do they know, that maybe I should know too?
A person changes when they come to Christ. Eyes open, and the Spirit of God enters the well of their spirit. Together, things are seen and understood differently. The veil lifts—truth shifts.
In our lives, we are His guides. We are meant to show His gentle touch, His compassion, and love. We are meant to lead people to Christ.
Now is not the time to be meek or timid, to be worried or frightened. Instead, it is time to rise, have the courage of our faith, and become comfortable speaking of it.
Greg reminds me. Mr. Sewell shows me - I have some work to do and some courage to find.

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12 (ESV)

“Pondering is everything, and everything is worth pondering.” - Kim Knights
😘 Love you…Fred had an amazing family, friends and business and positively influenced a lot of people- he provided an opportunity in business as a mentor by quietly showing me how it should be done. He did the same spiritually getting a taste of his life’s works through the many books people and organizations he touched was eye opening on how impactful can one man be in a quiet unassuming way. Very inspiring celebration of one man’s life and works.
Your Ponder spoke to me today, even more so than usual. Perhaps it was because God has been speaking to me about this for the past few weeks. Thank you for your insight and suggestions.
Now I am asking for your prayers for strength, wisdom, courage and trust as i take my first steps to openly share my faith with others.
